Georgia Grown Livestock Guardian Dogs

Livestock Guardian Dog (LGD) breeds have been used for centuries to protect livestock from predators in Europe and Asia. Nature's Harmony Farm LGD's are crosses of the two most well-known of these breeds in the United States, the Great Pyrenees and Anatolian Shepherds. LGD's have been bred for the past 3,000 years to protect flocks of sheep and herds of goats, calves and other livestock from predators. They are large enough to intimidate or kill predators, withstand extreme weather, and bond with the animals they are protecting.

We select our breeding dogs based on their performance in the pastures and their ability to protect our very diverse family of animals and people.

About Nature's Harmony LGD's

All of our guard dogs were bred and born on our farm, raised alongside the animals they are trained to protect. These include chickens, ducks, geese, sheep, cows, pigs, guineas and even peacocks!

Since it is next to impossible for humans to train LGD's, we allow the puppies to "learn the ropes" for several months from their parents, Jethro and Ana. If this is your first livestock guard dog, you should purchase a 6 month old or older LGD that is familiar with their job. We have found that until a guard dog is at least 12 months old, they will "play" with the chickens, lambs and kids and may accidentally hurt them. If you already have an LGD you may consider a younger puppy, as your LGD should be able to train them effectively.
